A Raja Ampat diving tour is arranged three ways: a day dive tour from Waisai, a dive-and-stay package, or a dive liveaboard from Sorong. Komodo Luxury arranges the boats and transfers. Each dive plan is for the dive centre or the vessel’s dive team to confirm.

Scope Komodo Luxury is the charter brand of PT Komodo Bahari Nusantara, a licensed Indonesian tourism company. It owns and operates nine vessels and curates a network of 200+ vetted partner yachts, which are labelled separately from its owned boats. As listed on Komodo Luxury (checked 2026-09-16). Questions divers pencil into the margin
What is the Raja Ampat marine park tag, and what does it cost in 2026?
It is the marine park card, paid per guest. The Raja Ampat marine park fee for foreign tourists is IDR 1,000,000 per person per year, with children under 12 exempt, under Southwest Papua Governor Regulation No. 32 of 2024, as listed by the Raja Ampat MPA Management Authority (checked 2026-09-16). The current tariff is confirmed at booking.
Do I need Advanced Open Water?
Not for every site. Calmer Dampier Strait sites can suit Open Water divers, while Cape Kri’s deep drift, Blue Magic and current-exposed Misool sites are usually treated as Advanced territory. Each site is a candidate the dive centre or vessel confirms against your certification, logged dives, recent experience, conditions and its own policies.
How strong are the currents?
Blue Magic is current-swept and unpredictable; Cape Kri is exposed at depth. Your partner guide picks the timing around tides and may limit group size. Reef hook and SMB are standard kit for these profiles.
Misool or Dampier Strait?
Dampier Strait is reachable by day boat from Waisai. Misool is not a Waisai day trip: you reach it with a resort dive-and-stay or a 10–12 night liveaboard.
Is Komodo Luxury a PADI dive centre?

When is the best season?
October to April, with December to February bringing peak central visibility and manta high season. May and September are shoulder months. June to August is the northern off-season.
Do I need dive insurance?
We strongly recommend it, and partner centres ask about it at the cert check. Raja Ampat is remote; read our dive risk disclaimer before booking.
How do I get to Sorong and Waisai?
Fly into Sorong (Domine Eduard Osok, SOQ), then take the ferry or a fast boat to Waisai. Arrive a day early before any liveaboard. See the flight-to-boat plan from Sorong.
